Hotel Elinor

Chicago, IL

Ashley Graham  5/2010
The weather had just started to get nice and warm but this shoot couldn’t be done outdoors. This was another last stab at my creating work for the “Curves” project.
I had contacted Ashley about the project and stressed that I wanted these images to have a old/dated look to them. I planned on incorporating my lava lamp and decided the location would be the Elinor hotel on Belmont and Cicero.
Not knowing what the owners would think if I was caught photographing in the elevator and staircases, I was rightfully nervous.
As I recall Ashley had a bit of a cold and her voice was nasally but still very sexy.
The hotel proved to be a great looking backdrop against Ashley’s glowing skin. I could have easily turned the images into a typical glamour shoot but I sensed she deserved something special. Some of these shots were quite interesting to capture within the cramped confines of the room.
My mood at the time? I really couldn’t tell you specifically what I was feeling. The addict was still raging on unchecked. The stress of the new position at the school was slowly taking it’s toll and I was struggling to keep everything together.
In retrospect, this was quite a wonderful shoot though I wasn’t quite myself. There was no lust to cloud the artistic vision. It’s a shame I couldn’t focus on editing more after the shoot but it’s refreshing to re-visit these images…
